New rubbish bins for Environment Day [1]

Salesi Fineanganofo of BSP and project coordinator said with the assistance of the Waste Management Authority they funded 30 green rubbish bins installed on the Vuna waterfront starting from the Royal Palace to the Fisheries office in Sopu.
He said BSP is a community bank and this is them giving back to the community they serve. This includes going out to local primary schools in Tongatapu and raising awareness among the young students on the environment and provide rubbish bins "because rubbish is everyone's business".
At the same time, the Department of Environment today held an Open Day to start the 2016 National Environment Awareness Week.
A program was held at the Nuku'alofa square where enthustiastic young students received prizes for the environment week's art, tree planting and jingle competitions.
Displays were also showcased, including items from local art groups.
