Hundreds of Tongatapu secondary and tertiary school students led by lively brass bands marched through central Nuku’alofa today, Thursday 2 June, to mark the opening of the 2016 Session of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga.
It was a beautiful sunny day in the capital and hundreds of people came out lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the colourful marching display and brass bands performances.
HM King Tupou VI motorcade was greeted by students lining the streets on his way to Parliament House where he delivered his address.
Also enjoying the spectacle were passengers from the Pacific Pearl cruise ship berthed at the Vuna Wharf near Parliament House.
All Government and church secondary and tertiary schools took part in this annual event.
