Pacific culture, a valuable resource [1]

The Ministers including Tonga’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon Fe’ao Vakata, had discussed the mid-term review of the Regional Cultural Strategy, Investing in Pacific Cultures 2010-2020 and decided to accelerate implementation through sub-regional working groups and profile culture at the Micronesia Leaders Summit and the Polynesian leaders Group.
They also committed to meet every two-years rather than every four-years during the Festival of Pacific Arts.
Ministers supported USP’s development of a Professional Certificate in Heritage Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Pacific Studies, Heritage and Arts and agreed to pursue scholarships for arts and culture sector studies.
They also acknowledged support from partners SPC, UNESCO, Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, USP and others for advancing cultural development in the region.
