Former Tongan Olympic hopeful, Uaine Fa has so far produced a good start to his professional career, winning three out of three fights since turning pro in February this year.
The New Zealand born 26 year-old won his third fight against Australian fighter Jayson Aloese last Saturday April 16 at the Royal Rampage event night in Auckland, New Zealand. Uaine Fa won the fight via a unanimous decision. In his previous two fights, he scored a first round knockout against experienced boxers Richard Tutaki and Clint Foai.
Uaine Fa won a Bronze medal for Tonga in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and was highly regarded as an amateur boxer. He defeated current world contender Joseph Parker in the finals of the New Zealand National Championships in 2009.
Nailini Helu wins title
Tongan born Nailini Helu or the “Tongan Goddess” was a replacement fighter against Kirsty Leupeamanu of Hamilton. The 22 year-old Tongan Goddess ended up winning the bout by unanimous decision and took home the Royal Rampage Super Middleweight Title. She is scheduled to fight in the next Royal Rampage even at a time to be confirmed.
Uaine Fa and the Tongan Goddess were both undercards in the Royal Rampage event on April 16 that featured female world title fights. New Zealander Rebecca Jennings defeated American Nydia Feliciano of New York to win the vacant Universal Boxing Federatio (UBF) International Female Featherweight title. Kali Reis of Rhode Island defeated fellow Maricela Cornejo of Las Vegas to win the WBC World Female Middleweight title.
