PNG prepares to host FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup [1]

Over 124 million television viewers from 100 countries are expected to watch the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Papua New Guinea in six months time.
It will be the biggest sporting event ever to be broadcast from PNG.
The Local Organising Committee and the PNG Sports Foundation met last week to discuss the tournament, which will see around 560 players and officials from 16 nations participate.
Committee CEO Seamus Marten said the committee will ensure that PNG is ready to host a great FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup come November. "This is our chance to show the world we can,”
PNG Sports Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Peter Tsiamalili, said that constant dialogue with the local organising committee would ensure his team brings the venues up to FIFA standard requirements.
“This is a partnership and we need to work together to deliver the tournament, so it’s really a collective effort,” he said.
The event will be held across four stadiums in Port Moresby including the Sir John Guise Stadium, National Football Stadium, Bava Park Mini Stadium and the PNG Football Stadium, and 16 training sites are being prepared for the players.
Meanwhile, the OFC Nations Cup, to be hosted in Port Moresby between 28 May and 11 June and will be used as a test event in preparation for the World Cup to be held between 13 November and 3 December.
