‘Ikale Tahi winger Telusa Veainu has won the “Citizen Try of the Week” after he scored a stunning try for his team, the Leicester Tigers, in the Aviva Premiership on April 2.
Telusa scored the amazing try in a thrilling match against Gloucester RFC. The try was the result of a perfectly co-ordinated move, which began with centre Manu Tuilagi drawing in defenders before passing the ball out to fellow centre Peter Betham, who then fed the ball to Telusa on the wing. Telusa was chased by two Gloucester defenders before scoring in the corner. The Tigers eventually won the tightly contested game by 35 points to 30.
Telusa is currently the top try scorer for the Leicester Tigers, having scored 7 tries for Leicester so far in the season. He is only two tries behind the current leading try scorer of the premiership, Harlequins winger Tim Visser (9 tries).
The “Citizen Try of the Week” is based on fan votes, it is a weekly recognition given to players voted with scoring the best try of the week in the Aviva Premiership.
