‘Ikale Tahi captain and flanker Nili Latu pulled off an impressive feat last weekend (April 2) in round 19 of the Aviva Premiership, scoring two tries in four minutes for his team Newcastle Falcons against the highly rated Harlequins.
The Harlequins were leading 28 points to 11 before Latu powered over the Harlequin lines with tries in the 56th and 60th minute. Despite the spirited comeback however, the Harlequins eventually pulled away and won the game by 46 points to 25.
The 34 year-old Latu is currently the highest try scorer for the Falcons, having scored six tries out of 16 games, outscoring his backline team mates which include the likes of Alesana Tuilagi and Marcus Watson. Latu is also currently ranked as a top try scorer in the Northern Hemisphere’s Aviva Premiership. He is only three tries behind the leading try scorer Harlequins winger Tim Visser (9 tries). ‘Ikale Tahi winger Telusa Veainu is also in the Aviva top try scorer list, having scored seven tries for his team Leicester Tigers.
