Tonga’s first sports journalists association, the Friendly Islands Sports Journalists Association (FISJA) was officially formed in Nuku’alofa on 2 March.
The establishment of the association is a move by the Tongan media, and journalists to advance sports reporting, and to highlight the excitement and advancements in sports for Tonga.
It was a humble beginning by FISJA and three officials were selected to get the ball rolling: Chairman, Iliesa Tora – Nuku’alofa Times Media; Sectetary, Sefo Mailangi – Talanga newspaper, and Treasurer, Filokalafi ‘Akau’ola – Talaki newspaper.
Membership of the association is opened to all Tongan-based working journalists, and associate membership status is also available for anyone, locally or overseas who has an interest in sports.
FISJA can be contacted though the chairman, Iliesatora2012 [at] gmail [dot] com.
