Two arrests follow seizure of Puke cannabis plantation [1]

Tonga Police arrested a 30 year old man from Hofoa and seized 289 Cannabis plants from a plantation in Puke on Saturday, 24 October 2015.
The accused is being charged with possession and growing of Cannabis plants, an illicit drug. He was released with no set date to appear in court at this time, Chief Superintendent Tevita Fifita confirmed
He said they uprooted plants that were still quite small, up to 60 cm (2 feet) in height. The plants are being kept as evidence for the court trial.
32 packs
A 50-year-old man was arrested yesterday, 27 October, with possession of 32 packs of marijuana at the corner of Mateialona Road and Fatafehi Rd in the Nuku’alofa CBD. Each pack contained dried Cannabis plants, estimated to the amount of 2 cigarettes, he said.
Chief Supt Fifita said that the Tonga Police had received information in regards to the accused and had kept a close watch over him.
He thanked the public for their ongoing cooperation with the Police in resolving cases.
