While the Friday Taimi 'o Tonga and the Talaki claimed that the Ministry of Forestry has been operating illegally, the other three newspapers, the Tuesday Taimi, the Kele'a and the Kalonikali featured other lead stories.
The Tuesday Taimi's main story pre-empts the formation by Tongan businesses of an association. A group of Tongan business people have been meeting, and to show their unity and their support for the recent strike by the Civil Servants they donated containers of food stuffs, and had also expressed their willingness to take more radical action if government was not going to give in to the demands of the striking civil servants. (An association of this group of Tongan business people has yet to be established).
Pohiva denies comment
The Kele'a's main story for the week was a correction by 'Akilisi Pohiva of a report that was featured in both the Taimi and Talaki last week, saying that 'Akilisi had said that the achievement rating of Dr Feleti Sevele and Sione Peauafi Haukinima since they became Cabinet Ministers in March was zero. 'Akilisi said he did not say that at the Press Conference. He said that the zero rating expression was made by 'Isileli Pulu, and therefore the Taimi and the Talaki owed him an apology.
Giving in to demands
The Kalonikali's main story for the week was Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho's sermon at the Centenary Church on Sunday, September 25 to mark the Faka-Sepitema.
The Kalonikali's said that the theme of the queen's sermon was 'A Humble Soul'. She stressed that a Humble Soul is a forgiving soul, a sign that one is at peace and is willing to sacrifice his own desires, and giving in to the demands of others.
