King visits Kolomotu'a [1]

Homes in the Kolomotu’a area part of Nuku’alofa were decorated with colourful balloons, mats and tapa for a visit by HM King Tupou VI on Friday, 12 June.
This was part of a clean up campaign that has been ongoing in villages throughout Tongatapu in preparation for the King’s Coronation celebrations from 27 June to 7 July.
People from Kolomotu’a have been cleaning up their homes and gardens in the weeks leading up to the king’s visit.
People decorated their gardens with balloons and showed off fine mats along fences and light post. The roads were lined with flowerpots and balloons and banners congratulating the King and the Royal Family.
King Tupou VI’s convoy visited Sopu, Longolongo, Kolomotu‘a and Hala-‘o-Vave.
Young women from Havelu, the estate of Lord Fielakepa performed the tau‘olunga dance at his home in Kolomotu'a on Saturday, 13 June.
