New water supply for Fua’amotu village [1]

A new water supply system was handed over today 3 June, to the happy community of Fua’amotu in Tongatapu by the Government of Japan to restore a ystem that had severely deteriorated.
Hon Salote Maumautaimi Tuku’aho commissioned the new system constructed with $206,958 pa’anga under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
The Japanese Ambassador HE Mr Yukio Numata said in recognition of water related human insecurities, Japan through GGP assisted this village with necessary restorations to the water system.
“There are 1,493 people in this village and the new water system will be able to distribute clean water at a reliable and stable rate to everyone."
GGP includes, but it is not limited to, the construction of buildings for primary and secondary schools, reinforcement of human security needs, determination to alleviate poverty and trying to improve basic social services and infrastructure such as village water supply system, said the Ambassador.
Fua’amotu Town Officer Vili Lui thanked the Japanese Government for the funding the water system because without their assistance it would not have been possible.
