Lennie Niit, the Senior Vice-President of TASANOC resigned from his position today, Friday, 24 April in Nuku'alofa.
He said today the main reason for his resignation is because his vision and efforts to improve circumstances for sports and athletes was not shared by others in the degree required to make for a productive effort.
“It is not like me to end a project before it is completed but since my efforts these past two-years have not produced much, if even anything, and I see no indication of positive change anytime soon, I now decided enough is enough,” he said.
He thanked those whom entrusted him with this role by voting for him at the General Assembly in early 2013.
Lennie said he had advised the TASANOC President of his resignation today.
During the past few months there have been revelations in correspondence between the executive and national sporting bodies of disagreements between the Secretary General of TASANOC, Takitoa Taumoepeau, the President, Lady Tu'ivakano and Senior Vice President Lennie Niit. The stumbling block has been that the President and the Senior Vice President have not been able to call either a General Meeting or an Annual General Meeting, because of disagreements over the agenda of the meeting with the Secretary General.
The hot item on the agenda is a Vote of No Confidence on the Secretary General.
Meanwhile the Secretary General who is in charge in the running of the TASANOC office, has made it clear that he is the person who calls an AGM or a General Meeting and not the President or the Senior Vice President.
