Stuart Perry has resigned as General Manager of Tourism Tonga for personal reasons, after 15-months in the position in Nuku'alofa.
He confirmed this afternoon that he has accepted a position to head a regional tourism organisation in New Zealand.
"I have enjoyed working with many of the Tongan tourism businesses immensely. I think that tourism, with strong leadership and strong marketing campaigns in key markets will continue to prosper and grow in Tonga but it will need that determined and expert guidance to reach its potential."
Mr Perry was the first General Manager of Tourism Tonga, which began operation in January 2014.
A Tonga Tourism Act 2012 had established this private-sector led authority to drive the marketing of Tonga as a tourism destination, with strong partnership between public and private sectors.
