Election petition for Vava'u PR adjourned [1]

The election petition filed against Samiu Vaipulu, the Vava'u No.15 People's Representative to Parliament, for alleged bribery and corrupt practices during the 2014 General Election campaigns was adjourned today to February 10.
Tomifa Paea, who contested the same constituency as Vaipulu, filed the petition at the Supreme Court in December last year and today asked for the adjournment from Vava'u.
The case before the Chief Justice Hon Paulsen was adjourned for a hearing date to be set on February 10.
Paea in his petition made the allegations against the former Deputy Prime Minister.
Vaipulu is represented in court by Clive Edwards, the former Minister of Justice.
Meanwhile, a court date has not been set for the second election petition filed against Vava’u No.16 People’s Representative and Minister of Infrastructure Hon ‘Etuate Lavulavu for alleged bribery and illegal practices.
This petition was filed by Dr Viliami Latu and ‘Aisea Siliveinusi in December last year.
