New Year weddings keep registry busy [1]

New Year weddings have been keeping the Registry Office in Nuku‘alofa busy as 13 marriages were registered this week, since government officers resumed working on Monday, 5 January when the first marriage for 2015 was registered.
Today, January 8, was the busiest day of nuptials at the Registry Office in Nuku’alofa for the year, with eight marriages were registered.
Among the happy couples today was Siaosi Veatupu (25) and 'Asela Lupe Kautai Veatupu (25) from Lapaha and Tatakamotonga.
Meanwhile, December remains the most popular wedding season in Tonga with a large number of couples flocking to the registry before government closed on December 19, 2014.
A total of 108 marriages were registered in December 2014 with Thursday, 18 December the busiest day when 28 marriages were registered.
