New awards launched at bank's 30th celebration [1]

The Westpac Bank of Tonga celebrated its 30th year on July 1, and in Nuku'alofa for the celebration were Ann Sherry, the Group Executive for Westpac New Zealand and the Pacific, and Alan Walter the Westpac CEO for the Pacific and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Westpac Bank of Tonga.
At a function held at the Janfull International Dateline Hotel Ann Sherry announced two award programs, one for women in business and another for senior students, to be funded by the bank to mark its 30th year.
A Women in Business Award will be awarded annually to two women, one who excels herself in an executive business administration position, and another a successful business woman. She said that the winners of this award will attend the occasion of the presentation of the Australian Women in Business Award to be held in Australia at the end of the year.
A Senior Student Assistant Program will identify annually a Form 5 or 6 student with academic potential but with limited financial resources to be assisted by the bank. The bank will pay the school fees, text books and other study related expenses.
Malakai Lomu, for Westpac Band of Tonga said that the 30th birthday celebration of the Westpac Bank of Tonga would conclude on Sunday July 4 with a Sunday luncheon at the Good Samaritan Inn after the executive and the staff attended a Sunday church service.
