Fotu Fisi'iahi, a PSA spokesperson, told striking civil servants at Pangai Si'i this morning that the 12.5% increase was unacceptable, "there is a big disparity between 12.5% rise for Level 1 as it is for level 14."
At 11am today public servants were gathered awaiting the return of their negotiation team who were delivering their reply to the Prime Minister's office.
Fotu said that the PSA accepted the rest of the clauses in the offer made by government yesterday evening, but not the 12.5%.
Fotu also expressed a feeling that they were winning because he said that the Minister of Finance had admitted that his figure of $36.8 million, which he stated was needed to fulfil the demand of the PSA was wrong. The PSA figure was $20.65 million, which they claimed could be found without raising any taxes.
