Tonga Power Limited is a public enterprise responsible for the generation, distribution and supply of electricity to consumers in Tonga.

Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Accountant with the Tonga Power Limited Head Office.

The Accountant will work alongside the TPL Financial Controller and Finance Team, and will have a dual reporting role to the General Manager Finance on day-to-day financial matters, and direct to the CEO on strategic financial matters. This will include undertaking ‘Special Projects” as determined by the CEO.

The Accountant will also assist in the development, preparation, and ongoing management of detailed departmental budgets (including the CEO budgets) across the entire business. With his/her experience and excellent financial and planning skills, the Accountant will be capable of driving the Company’s IT and change management agenda. The Accountant will assist the General Manager Finance and CEO to deliver robust, accurate accounting services that guarantee the integrity of all financial information relative to Tonga Power Limited.

As an Accountant, you will:

  • Be experienced, preferably more than 7+ year experience in financial and management accounting in a corporate environment.
  • Possess tertiary qualifications in Finance/Accounting/IT, a CPA qualification will be an advantage.
  • Manage accounting and monitor accounts of other TPL “Special Projects” including Home Gas/Tonga Gas Limited.
  • Understand computer based financial management and reporting systems.
  • Report direct to General Manager Finance and CEO.
