    : A 21-year-old man of Tongan descent, James Afuakimoana Tamoua, has been arrested follwing an armed robbery and police chase in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday. The accused along with a 15-year-old boy are accused of robbing a shop and holding up the store clerk at gunpoint.

Vuna Fa’otusia told the Tongan Parliament today that government ministries did not break any law, by employing daily paid labourers for 10 to 20 years without a working contract, the Speaker reminded the House that Tonga is the "Friendly Islands".     : Tonga’s former Speaker of Parliament Lord Lasike, who was removed from parliament in 2012 is to be paid $223,385 pa’anga in remuneration by the Kingdom of Tonga, in lieu of a salary that he would have earned as a member of the Legislative Assembly and as Speaker from July 9, 2012 to November 24, 2014, ruled the Lord Chief Justice on February 2.

    : The names of six men on board the fishing boat Losemani Fo'ou when it left Nuku'alofa on January 30 at around around 3:00pm in the afternoon, were confirmed by the Ports Master's Office in Nuku'alofa today. The rescue of the men at sea was filmed by passengers and crew on board the Albatros who sent in new photos of the rescue. "The ocean does not like carelessness," one told Matangi Tonga.

    : The Albatros cruise ship saved six men from a sinking fishing boat in southern Tongan waters this afternoon. The cruise ship bound for Auckland diverted 300km to find the fishermen who had not had water for three days and their boat, Losemani Fo'ou, was taking on water.
 The men will stay on the Albatros until it berths in Auckland on Monday evening.

    : A new photo has emerged from NASA Earth clearly showing the site of the underwater volcano eruption known as 'Submarine Volcano III' near Tongatapu. NASA Earth states the plume is emerging from a seamount located 33 km (20 miles) from Tongatapu.
