By Finau Fonua

‘Ikale Tahi prospect Ben Tameifuna will fight Tongan rugby league star Willie Mason in an amateur boxing match on December 6 in Hamilton, New Zealand.

The Tameifuna vs Mason bout is an undercard for the “Fight for Life” boxing event, an annual charity sporting event in New Zealand which features boxing fights between celebrity athletes.

The 34 year-old Willie Mason is 119kg and 6’5 foot. He played for Tonga in the 2000 Rugby League World Cup. Mason currently plays for the Newcastle Knights in the NRL Premiership.

The younger 23 year-old Ben Tameifuna is 134kg and 5’11 foot. Tameifuna currently plays for the Waikato Chiefs in the Super 15 Rugby. He is a highly anticipated prospect for the ‘Ikale Tahi in next year’s Rugby Union World Cup in England.
