Fulivai new Vava'u Noble's Rep

NOBLE Fulivai enters the Tongan Parliament for the first time and becomes the youngest member after winning the Vava’u Nobles’ By Election ton JUly 30 at the Palace Office, Nuku’alofa.

Eight Vava’u nobles cast their votes to decide their representative.

Fulivai (32) replaces Noble Luani as Vava’u No. 2 Noble’s Representative. Noble Luani vacated his seat following his appointment as Governor of Vava’u on July 1.

Electoral Supervisor Pita Vuki confirmed on July 30 that this is the first time for Fulivai to enter parliament as a Noble’s Representative. He won the by election with three votes.

In second was a tie between Tu’i’afitu and ‘Ulukalala who got two votes each, followed in third by Tuita with one vote.

Pita said six of the eight nobles for Vava’u attended the by election with the exception of nobles Fakatulolo and Veikune who were abroad but had faxed in their votes.

The Vava’u nobles are Fakatulolo, Fulivai, Luani, Tuita, Tu’i’afitu, Tu’ilakepa, ‘Ulukalala and Veikune.

Fulivai is married to Helen and they have three children. His estates are Hunga, Fangalepa and Loto’uiha in Vava’u.
